You're either part of the solution or part of the problem...Eldridge Cleaver

Background Information

Krystal is originally from Rockmart, Georgia.  While still in high school, Krystal's parents became involved in foster care and provided a home for displaced children.  Growing up within this blended family with foster siblings with varying mental health issues positively impacted her interest in mental health.  After graduating high school, she attended the University of Georgia and received a BS in Psychology.

After college, Krystal gained a multitude of enriching experiences by joining the workforce.  She worked as a flight attendant, a transactional buyer for Procter & Gamble, and a tax examiner for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).  Though not all of her work experiences focused heavily on psychology and mental health, one of her most rewarding jobs as a senior research interviewer at Emory University actually did.  Krystal gained an enormous amount of experience and exposure to issues of mental health with the Emory Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program (EMAP).

In addition to pursuing her degree in counseling psychology, Krystal is concurrently seeking a master's degree in Public Health with a focus in health behavior at the University of Kentucky.  This endeavor speaks to her clinical and research interests in the mental and sexual health issues of individuals and communities.  She would specifically like to focus her efforts to populations of color and women and aid in exploring and dissecting the inequities of health disparities that surround these underprivileged populations.  Krystal's has aspirations of becoming a sex therapist and a behavioral scientist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
